There are two fundamental types of computer graphics, ‘vector’ based graphics and ‘bitmap’ graphics. Vector graphics programs (such as CorelDraw, freehand and adobe illustrator) store graphics as objects whereas bitmap graphics programs (such as Adobe Photoshop and Corel photo paint) store graphics as ‘pixels’ (dots). In a bitmap programs a line is stored as a collection of pixels that visually from a line. Vector graphics are usually edited by clicking on objects and dragging them with the mouse around the screen, bitmap graphics are edited using an ‘eraser’ tool that deletes pixels.
